Brown offers generous financial aid so you can graduate debt-free.
100% of students receiving financial aid have no loans packaged in their financial aid awards
$0 parent contribution for most families with less than $60,000 in annual income
$58,822 average amount per aided student in the class of 2028 for need-based scholarships and grants
A Brown education is more affordable than you may think. Brown meets 100% of demonstrated need, actively seeks students from all income groups, and practices need-blind admission — meaning whether or not a student can pay the cost to attend is not a factor in our admission decisions. Through an initiative called The Brown Promise, the University has eliminated loans from all undergraduate financial aid packages, enabling you to graduate debt-free.
Spend three minutes answering six basic financial questions, and the MyinTuition calculator will provide you with a personalized estimate of what you might expect to pay for one year at Brown. Brown covers full tuition for families earning $125,000 or less with typical assets and meets a wide range of financial needs.

Brown’s model of career exploration helps prepare you to land that first job and navigate a lifetime of evolving career opportunities. The Center for Career Exploration provides dedicated career counselors and mentors to support students with career programming, such as resume and interview workshops and professional panels. This includes support across six industry-specific career pathways: careers in the common good, technology, arts and media, finance and consulting, science and engineering and pre-law and pre-med.
Brown also makes sure that students have the funding needed to engage in internships and career-related experiences to gain skills and experience before graduation. And thanks to an expansive mentoring and professional community of alumni and families, students develop a robust network in which to seek guidance and identify experiences that can lead to fulfilling jobs.
Brown considers the whole person when reviewing applications.
The most important consideration in Brown’s admission process is high school performance and preparedness, including not just grades but also skills mastery, teacher recommendations and the depth and breadth of your academic learning both in and out of the classroom.
While Brown requires standardized test scores, we view them in the context of each student’s personal experience, and there are no minimum scores required for admission. This means that we see many applicants whose test scores may be below the very competitive average of the Brown admitted class, but perhaps well above the average at their high school. This shows us your excellence in context and can help to inform our admission decisions.
