A Brown education is more affordable than you may think. Brown meets 100% of demonstrated need, actively seeks students from all income groups, and practices need-blind admission — meaning whether or not a student can pay the cost to attend is not a factor in our admission decisions. Through an initiative called The Brown Promise, the University has eliminated loans from all undergraduate financial aid packages, enabling you to graduate debt-free.

The most important consideration in Brown’s admission process is high school performance and preparedness, including not just grades but also skills mastery, teacher recommendations and the depth and breadth of your academic learning both in and out of the classroom.
While Brown requires standardized test scores, we view them in the context of each student’s personal experience, and there are no minimum scores required for admission. This means that we see many applicants whose test scores may be below the very competitive average of the Brown admitted class, but perhaps well above the average at their high school. This shows us your excellence in context and can help to inform our admission decisions.
