Undergraduate Admission

Application Fee Waiver for Providence Public School Students

Every Providence public school senior qualifies for an application fee waiver.

As part of Brown’s deep and ongoing commitment to the city it calls home, the University is providing a full application fee waiver to any public high school senior in Providence applying during the 2026-27 application cycle.

Whether you've grown up a few blocks from campus or across the city, we want to make sure the application fee is one less thing standing between you and Brown.

Guidance on How to Claim Your Fee Waiver

  1. Log in to your Common Application account at commonapp.org.

Student Voices

My one piece of advice for prospective Rhode Island students is that your Brown experience can truly be whatever you want it to be. If you want the comfort and familiarity of home, you are close enough to visit family, see hometown friends and enjoy the places you have always known. At the same time, if you want to feel like you are entering a completely new environment, Brown’s diverse and welcoming community makes it easy to do so. You have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, explore a new city and create experiences that feel entirely your own. I think one of the best things about being from Rhode Island is that you get to choose how connected you want to remain to home while still having the freedom to build a new life at Brown.

Brown University reflects the bright and vibrant community of Providence, with professors, students and administrators working tirelessly to build a campus centered on shared moments of joy and our diverse cultures. Being from Providence, we are uniquely poised to call this university our home. Despite what others might tell you, applying and coming to Brown is not something to be afraid of, but rather a reclaiming of a resource that is ours to use.
