Mateen Markzar

Biography

Hi! My name is Mateen, and I’m a member of the Class of 2026 from Los Angeles, California. At Brown, I’m concentrating in Neuroscience on the pre-med track, but thanks to the Open Curriculum, I’ve also explored courses in Public Health, History, and Judaic Studies. On campus, I'm an EMT with Brown EMS, work as a research assistant at the Center for Translational Neuroscience, and am involved in teaching as a biology and neuroscience TA as well as a Peer Tutor with the Sheridan Center. In my free time, you can usually find me at Brown-RISD Hillel or Chabad, exploring Providence’s many coffee shops and restaurants, or learning a new song on guitar. I’m always happy to chat about STEM at Brown, Jewish life on campus, or the best places to grab coffee and a bite in Providence; feel free to reach out!
