Navigating the Open Curriculum: An Overview of Academic Life at Brown

At Brown, we invite you to develop your own personalized academic experience. You'll explore a wide range of subjects before immersing yourself in one of over 80 concentrations (what you might call a major) for in-depth, focused study.

Things in Common
Simmons Quad, Tent
Things in Common is a fun icebreaker activity designed to help students connect during ADOCH. Students will be grouped by their seating row and asked to find something they all have in common—whether it’s as simple as "pizza is my favorite food" or something more unique. Afterward, they can either continue socializing with their group or explore open houses, offering a relaxed way to make new friends and feel connected. As a fun incentive, all participants will receive a special swag item to keep, signaling that you’ve attended this event and are open to making connections.

Join Indigenous alumni for a workshop on the legacy of Native/Indigenous Student Activism at Brown. This workshop is part of the student-led Ivy Natives Conference, which is also taking place this week on Brown University's campus. The conference workshop is officially scheduled until 2:30 pm; ADOCH attendees are invited to remain for the duration of the event or step away early to other activities. While the event will focus on the experiences and community for Indigenous students at Brown, all admitted students, parents, and supporters from any background are welcome to attend.

Join the Residential Life staff for a tour of our first-year communities. Tours will run every 15 minutes, starting at 1 p.m. *Please note that from 1 to 3 p.m., tours will be for admitted students only. Parents and families are welcome to take a residential tour starting at 3 p.m.
