Daniel Brambila-Diaz

Biography

What's up, y'all! My name is Danny, and I'm a third-year student (Class of 2027) concentrating in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, from Seattle, Washington. As a member of Brown's Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME), I participate in various healthcare, mentoring, and cultural organizations outside of academics. On campus, I am President of La Casita (Latine Program Housing), a Meiklejohn Peer Advisor for the PLME, a mentor for the PLME First-Generation and Underrepresented in Medicine group, a campus tour guide, and a tutor for Organic Chemistry I. Additionally, I shadow in the Emergency Department and work as a research assistant at Rhode Island Hospital in the Division of Infectious Diseases. My research currently focuses on investigating the mechanisms and development of autoimmunity following sepsis-related hospitalizations. If you want to talk about science, healthcare equity, weightlifting, being Latino/Mexican-American, or being first-generation or low-income at Brown — I'm all for it! :)
